California Summer

California Summer

My goodness, it’s been a while!  While I was in a definite need of a break from the blog, I am so happy to be back!  And if you didn’t already notice on Instagram, I’m now One Turn Kiss, rather than One Turn Kill.  Unfortunately there is too much negativity and violence happening in the world and my name was being associated with it.  I know that all of you know that I am quite the peaceful person (at least I hope by now you do…), and that I just want everyone to be nice and of course for everything to be cute…  But I couldn’t stand my name having such a negative connotation, and for that reason I have decided to push it all the way to the opposite end of the spectrum with a great big KISS!  So, that is that and everyone be safe and kind and lovey.  The outfit!  That’s why you are here, right?!?  This outfit totally screams California summer to me.  It’s relaxed and easy, baggy shorts and some vans, with the perfect amount of girly-ness in the lace top.  Plus, said lace lets the breeze in and baggy shorts aren’t too confining.  It’s pretty perfect if you ask me!   Top: Tea & Cup // Shorts: Urban Renewal // Sunglasses: Armani // Shoes: Vans Over Washed Sk8-Hi (Unfortunately the version I am wearing isn’t available in stores anymore, but you can always get the classic version...
Leather Shorts + Long Legs

Leather Shorts + Long Legs

Back at the leather shorts game over here, despite feeling a bit sketched out about them in general.  How perfect are they with nude sandals though?  This outfit all started with wanting to wear this white collared top again, but this time tied up!  I knew high waisted shorts would be perfect, but denim would be too predictable.  So out came these suede babies!  Besides, I need to get some wear in with them before the actual heat starts, as leather shorts on a hot day are NOT ideal.   After loving the shorts and top together, I wanted something to really lengthen my legs.  Nude is the best way to do just that!  These sandals wouldn’t have worked with this outfit if they weren’t nude, because platforms in general don’t elongate the leg.  Throw in the nude straps though and there you have it.  Legs for days!  Well maybe that isn’t true, but they still look longer than normal.  Pop on a cute little bag, I prefer one that spices the outfit up a bit (as always).  Colored tassels?  DUH. On Point.

On Point.

Although these shorts, actually called “pretties“, make me look like a chubby child (seriously go back and look, I’m not calling myself fat here, I’m just saying I resemble a child not quite grown into themself in these pictures), they will always be a go-to for me.  It’s all a little reminiscent of how boyfriend jeans make your legs look like stumps, but don’t we all just keep wearing them for the sheer goodness that they bring into our lives?  To pull them from my wardrobe would be the day I stop getting out of bed.  Maybe that might have been an exaggeration, but mostly it wasn’t.  So don’t take my pants okay?   And to get back on track here… I love my pretties and I also love these shoes.  Why?  I don’t have any idea.  Normally pointy toed shoes aren’t my thing, pointy boots are a yes, but flats are ALMOST always a no.  These ones though, they were just so… ON POINT.  They spoke to me, if you will.  It may have been the tiny white strap, or it may have been temporary insanity, either way I love them.  Plus, they are plastic so I’m not so much worried about scuffing the toe, which I will inevitably do.  Love me anyway?  Tank: Chaser Brand // Shorts: Vintage // Shoes: Melissa // Bag: Hare + Hart Photography by Sylvia...
To make you move and shake.

To make you move and shake.

I can’t express to you how in love with these pictures I am!  With the sheer stripes on the skirt and the sparkle of the shoes in the sun… Sheesh, these ones make me so happy!  And speaking of the sheer stripes in the skirt (and making me happy), how freaking adorable is this skirt by Alli K!?!  I have so many plans for it and I kind of want to wear it every day, even if it’s only around the house, just to feel pretty.  When I was little and took ballet, I had a sheer wrap around skirt that my mom made for me to wear over my leotard and tights, it had about the same coloring as this very skirt.  Wearing it stirs up so many fun memories for me.  It’s like a grown up version of a pretty little ballet piece, now you go ahead and tell me one person who wouldn’t be in to that!  You can’t, I already know.   So much detail is put into Alli K clothing, with the perfect pleats in the skirt and the elastic side band on the button up top…  And did you see the button detailing on the back at the neck? Swoon worthy details, I’m tellin’ you!  They haven so many skirts and dresses, all with lovely little details, to twirl and shake in. Clothing that makes you want to move, just to see how it moves, is clothing worth wearing if you ask me!  I’ve got my eye on a few more dance worthy pieces, like this striped pleated skirt and this petal adorned dress....
I’m just SO excited!

I’m just SO excited!

YOU GUYS! I am so excited to show you my hair!  I had my natural color for almost an entire year (that is definitely a record for me), so I was ready for a BIG change.  In comes my new favorite person in the entire world, Chloe!  She came to my house (huge bonus because I loath driving), brought everything she needed, and got to work making a colorful, happy masterpiece of my hair!  I literally can’t tell you guys how excited I am about it!  Maybe you can sense it because every sentence ends in an exclamation point?  Anyway, not only did she give me the cutest multi-colored head of hair, but she is FREAKIN’ adorable!  (Go check her out on Instagram, @sushimonstuh, you will see what I mean.)  Plus, now that my hair is this light, I can pretty much try out any color!  What’s next?  I dunno, but the door just swung wide open! Alright, want to talk about the clothes a little?  These shorts, which are normcore as all get-out, are popping up all over my wardrobe lately.  Case in point, the pair in When It’s Right.  The thing that is cool about this kind of piece is that it stands back to let other aspects of your outfit shine through, while still being comfortable and chic, in that late 30’s, dorky-mom-tourist kind of way.  You know?  Yea, you know.  The black pair above served as the perfect accompaniment to my Vere Verto Mox bag as a hip pack.  I’m like the coolest fanny pack and mom shorts wearing chick around, no?  What with my...
