Showing a little love.

I’m seriously so excited to be sharing these pieces with you guys!  So many months ago I came across an Instagram page that kept me looking.  Lots of pretty colors, really awesome detail shots, and best of all, comfy clothes!  What was that Instagram page you ask? It was that of none other than Butter Nation.  After one major insta-creep session, my next step was to find out where to shop this amazing collection!  Turns out, it isn’t quite out yet.  Never fear though, my good people, for we can make this happen, and snag some of the pieces as we go!  The two designers behind Butter Nation have launched a Kickstarter with donation awards of the best buttery soft pieces you will ever experience in your life.  I’m not kidding, it’s the softest clothing I have ever had the pleasure of putting on my body.  So, spread the love and snag yourself some of your own body loving, hand dyed Butter Nation of your own!  Hop on over to the link below to do yourself, and them, a major favor.  As far as how I decided to dawn my Butter Nation? Well, the shorts and sweatshirt were super easy, pair with Chucks, DUH!  The perfect outfit for being out and about in LA, getting things done, taking over the world and such.  But the pants… with the pants I wanted something a little different, something that took the pairing to the next level.  Ehem, next level… maybe through platform shoes?  And in swoops my trusty glitter sandals!  I feel like this is also a perfect around town outfit,...
When it’s an accessory.

When it’s an accessory.

Is that when you know you have a problem? When coffee has become a permanent fixture in your hand and it shows up in your outfit photos?  Just kidding.  I don’t actually drink that much coffee.  I’m a Red Bull girl, but you never really see that because a can just isn’t as cute as a coffee cup!   Now, down to business! What’s the business you ask? Diaper butt jumpsuits.  I love them, which actually should be of no surprise to you if you have read my blog for any longer than a week.  They show up all the time!  Well, okay maybe not diaper butt (or also so lovingly named “poopy butt”) jumpsuits, but the one piece clothing article rears it’s awesome little head quite often (see here, here, and here).  Did you think I was joking?  I LOVE them.  In full disclosure, I have been wearing this jumpsuit for three days and am actually wearing it right now as I write about how lovely this purple patterned number is!  Sometimes it feels good to not think in the morning and just put something awesome on.  The one and done kinda day.  If only this could be the case every day, but not look like it.  I mean why hasn’t someone figured out how to make jumpsuits that don’t, in fact, look like jumpsuits but look like your favorite pair of jeans and a t-shirt?  With all of these advances in technology it seems there must have been an oversight.  Can we get someone on that please?  Thank you in advance!   Oh!  I know I kinda...
Layers + Leather Shoppers + Pulpits

Layers + Leather Shoppers + Pulpits

Normally I don’t go for dark backgrounds, but this one seemed to fit the outfit so well.  Maybe it’s because of the neon in the shirt, or maybe it’s just because I’m crazy, but I’m liking it!  Don’t worry, I’m not going to go on an all black backgrounds kick, you’ll still get your usual dosage of all-too-much-color-in-one-picture walls.  It’s always good to change it up a little though right?  Of course I’m right!   Want to know what else I’m right about? Layers.  I’ve been doing layers a lot more this spring, as seen here and here, and it’s adding an entirely new dimension to my wardrobe.  It’s fun to play with not only the colors of layers, but also the shapes.  Larger boxy pieces over more form fitting (an obvious choice), but there are even some glorious layered outfits to be made that are tight over loose!  WHAT? Tight over loose?  That doesn’t make any sense!  You’re imagining the awkwardness of the bunched up bottom layer under a small top layer right?  Well, sometimes it works!  Take the cream colored top above that fits a little more snug along the top half of the piece, but has an open back.  This is the perfect piece to throw something loose under!  Just wait, I’ll show you and prove wrong the little voice in your head that’s huffing and puffing over the mere thought of this combo.   For now though my friends,  you have plenty of springtime shape layering to feast your eyes on in this and the other layerful (awesome new word), posts of late.  The outfit...
Unexpected Androgyny.

Unexpected Androgyny.

Well hello Friday Eve!  These picture encompass my feelings EXACTLY.  One more day until we’re all home free!  It’s an easy breezy outfit for the weekend too, right?  Androgyny at it’s finest.  I put the pants and shirt together and normally my feelings would be to go with more feminine, smaller accessories to balance it out.  Think: a smaller understated shoe, skinny rimmed sunglasses, and a dainty clutch.  Instead I went all out with chunky accessories: platform lace ups, thick squared off sunglasses, and a larger leather bucket bag.  I think it all came together quite nicely! I really like the way the bright red of the top and the maroon of the shoes fit together.  The shoes are awesome on their own, but kind of take the back seat to the red in the top.  I struggled with the bag for a minute, besides just in the should-it-be-chunky or should-it-not-be-chunky way.  I didn’t know what color of leather should be put with the outfit!  I tried black and it seemed too harsh.  Brown just kind of drown itself in the pants, so I tried on this tan and light mint color bucket bag, not expecting to like it… But alas!  We had a winner!  For me the lighter color blocking finished off the outfit rather than competing against it’s elements.   Sometimes it’s good to try things you don’t think will look good.  Some days it just sucks and you move on, other times it gives you an idea for another outfit, and then there is the wonderful occasion of it actually working.   Unexpected pairings are what I...
