IT’S A ROBOT.

IT’S A ROBOT.

I’m really, REALLY, into knee high socks right now.  I have no idea what spurred the whole thing… possibly that it’s one of the only aspects of fall that I can actually bring into my wardrobe when it’s 85+ degrees outside.  (Are you sick of me complaining about the heat?  Cause I’m sick of it.)  Either way, I’m into the socks.   Ankle boots are a great accompaniment to such socks and then of course, the real winner here, a short little shift dress from House of Cannon. But, my friends, not just any little shift dress.  ONE WITH A ROBOT.  Yes, a robot!  In case you missed it in the pictures above, it’s a robot.  A pink one even, and I’m pretty sure nothing goes better with boots and knee highs than a shift dress with a bright pink robot on it. Honestly, nothing goes better with anything than a bright pink robot.  How many times have I said robot in this paragraph?  If you don’t get it by now, there is no hope for you.   Now that we have that cleared up, I still needed a bag.  I really liked the idea of pulling more fall into the look, while also adding a bit more interest, so I chose a bag with autumnal hues and a woven pattern.  I like this bag as a day-to-day kinda bag, but it would also be perfect as a carry on!  Multifunctional pieces are where it’s at people!   Then, to balance the whole thing out, as there was a lot of dark towards the lower half of my body,...
Skort + Hat

Skort + Hat

A super short post but I just couldn’t wait, I was so excited to show you guys this skort!  Yep, it’s a skort.  I don’t think I have had one since junior high!  I have seen denim mini skirts sprinkled here and there over the last little while, but wearing one just seems like no fun to me.  Why worry all the time if it’s hiking up or you are going to have a tragic flashing incident when you go to pick something up off the floor?!?  I’m totally not into that, and that’s where this lovely little skort comes in.  All of the cuteness of a mini with the ease of shorts?  Well, obviously I’m sold.  AAAAAAND I get to show off my socks, cause DUH. I love cute socks. You’ll be seeing more of these double timing bottoms, I’m sure of that, but here is a little taste to get you in the skort-y mood.  You can thank me later.   Top: Vintage // Skort: Urban Outfitters // Socks: Living Royal // Shoes: Urban Outfitters // Hat:...
Make Any Outfit Your Own

Make Any Outfit Your Own

This outfit was sitting right on the edge for me, a little too boho maybe?  I love the dress and the hat, and kinda knew they had to go together, but I needed to make sure it wasn’t all dragged too far into the bohemian end of things with the shoes.  What better way to pull away from boho than with metallics and a slightly pointier toe?  I feel like this is something well worth noting, because sometimes outfits can sit right on the edge of not being so much your style, but with something like a more modern shoe (or maybe in your case a more boho looking boot), it can pull it back into YOU.  This gives you so much more room to grow your wardrobe!  I find lots of pieces that I love that don’t immediately scream my personal style, but by adding in pieces that are right on the nose with my style, the outfit becomes even more mine.  Does that make sense at all?  It’s Monday morning and I was sick all weekend with sinus junk, so gimme a break.    P.S. You should really hop on over to Raven + Lily (where the dress is from), and check out what they are doing.  The dress was hand made by a woman in Phnom Penh who has turned her life around through opportunities sewing things like the dress above.  Raven + Lily was founded on a passion to help alleviate poverty among women all around the world.  Clothing and other goods you can feel good about wearing! To make you move and shake.

To make you move and shake.

I can’t express to you how in love with these pictures I am!  With the sheer stripes on the skirt and the sparkle of the shoes in the sun… Sheesh, these ones make me so happy!  And speaking of the sheer stripes in the skirt (and making me happy), how freaking adorable is this skirt by Alli K!?!  I have so many plans for it and I kind of want to wear it every day, even if it’s only around the house, just to feel pretty.  When I was little and took ballet, I had a sheer wrap around skirt that my mom made for me to wear over my leotard and tights, it had about the same coloring as this very skirt.  Wearing it stirs up so many fun memories for me.  It’s like a grown up version of a pretty little ballet piece, now you go ahead and tell me one person who wouldn’t be in to that!  You can’t, I already know.   So much detail is put into Alli K clothing, with the perfect pleats in the skirt and the elastic side band on the button up top…  And did you see the button detailing on the back at the neck? Swoon worthy details, I’m tellin’ you!  They haven so many skirts and dresses, all with lovely little details, to twirl and shake in. Clothing that makes you want to move, just to see how it moves, is clothing worth wearing if you ask me!  I’ve got my eye on a few more dance worthy pieces, like this striped pleated skirt and this petal adorned dress....
Spring cravings?

Spring cravings?

Mixing seasons can be hard, but it’s a fact of life as the weather will inevitably change and fashion trends will be there, right along side, for the ride.  Now, I’m not saying anything I am doing here is new, socks with sandals dates back to most of our kinder years, BUT it’s a nice little switch up while the seasons make their transitions which makes it feel new.  I mean, it was a good like… I don’t know… four months ago that we were in fall transition and socks and sandals were rearing their ugly (yes, it’s kind of an ugly pairing), little heads.  So yes, four months later it does feel new and exciting when it’s something that has been taken from you, like cold weather seems to do with not only our sandals, but everyone’s soul.  That may or may not be a slight exaggeration… Any way, it’s time to start thinking about spring and how to merge cold and warm weather pieces into one seamless set of outfits.  I like the idea of marshmallow-y sweaters and longer shorts, like I talked about in The long and short of it, but the outfit above is also a good option.  Pair shorts of a more sturdy fabric, also known as leather, with a wool sweater to keep yourself warm.  Been craving summer days filled with platform sandals and sun kissed legs?  Throw on your favorite sandals with a cute pair of socks to match your sweater!  As far as the sun kissed legs go, I can’t really help you with that.  Sorry dudes!  I do hope though...
