Pattern Play

Has anyone noticed that I seem to go through spurts of super colorful clothing and then spurts of black/white and I just go back and forth and back and forth?  No?  Well this is awkward. Ha, just kidding!  No awkwardness over here.  Unless you count the fact that somehow my pants are on backwards as I write this…  ANYWAY, I do seem to go through spells of color or black and white.  I thought it was connected to the seasons, but this spell of dark clothing plopped itself right down in the middle of spring.  I have no explanation for it, it just kind of happens, and I just let it.  I always want to be authentic, and sometimes that means bright colors that make even me want to puke, and sometimes that means all black with a couple of splashes of awesome.  Case in point, this outfit with a killer printed tee, silver boots, and a bag that could very well be used as a weapon (not unlike this one).    Plain black outfits definitely need a little spunk, don’t you think?  Like the jumpsuit I posted on Monday.  A little somethin’ somethin’ never hurt anyone.  In fact, it only helps!  Maybe you are having a frumpy day, when anything you put on just doesn’t make you feel like yourself.  Throw on some black and add in your favorite statement accessory and call it a day!  Or maybe you just feel all black some days but are dying to wear a pair of crazy colored shoes.  Insert all black here!  See?  Your wardrobe problems solved right here on...
Pop Art and the Ninja Princess.

Pop Art and the Ninja Princess.

This outfit feels like home to me for lots of reasons.  First and foremost, it’s easy.  Pants and a top that feel like pajamas but look like a million dolla’ dolla’ bills are what love is made of.  And second, because it’s all about the mixed prints here.  It’s all about the mixed prints HERE, and also in my head.  If you could see in my head… sheesh.  I think most of what happens in there is like a pop art comic strip of different florals.   Anyway, THE OUTFIT… it’s made so much better by my bag, which jumped right out of a fairy tale.  I honestly don’t know why I think it would be in a fairy tale because I have yet to see any princesses walking around with metal handles on their dainty bags, but it SHOULD be in a fairy tale.  You could fight someone with it if you needed to, like some kind of ninja princess.  Yea, I’m going to go with that. All the while wearing glitter laden platforms…  And if that wasn’t a glimpse into what goes on in my head, you’ll just never get it I guess.  Happy Monday! Spring is in the air.

Spring is in the air.

Talk about spring being in the air! This strip of sidewalk was too pretty to pass by, with all of it’s pink petal covered goodness.  It’s the perfect backdrop to a muted outfit and it’s all tied together with my killer hair!  The sunshine isn’t hurting the situation either… Understated outfits are made interesting by the shapes within them.  The interesting shapes of this outfit make it go from blah beige to something worth looking at.  The monochromatic coloring does me a favor here, as sometimes wide pants and a wide top can be hard to pull off, but doing it all in similar colors can help elongate you.  I don’t think there has ever been a more perfectly laid back outfit, especially when paired with chucks. Are you ready for spring? It’s coming! Are wide leg pants on your list? Try it in monochrome! The shapes do it.

The shapes do it.

Although this outfit is black, navy, and brown, it is the shapes that make it what it is.  Shape play in clothing is one of my favorite things to do.  How does the shape of a shirt change how I feel? How I look?  How I can dance?  Yes, being able to dance is very important in clothing choices on a daily basis.  Anyway, I love these shapes together. The structured look of the Kimem pants with the skirt over paired with the loose fit of the button up navy shirt just makes me feel good.  What’s better than that?  Nothing. Ninja bun Friday, are you ready?  Happy weekend! Top: Vintage // Pants: KIMEM Jacky Skirt on top pants // Loafers: Via Spiga // Bag: Vere Verto Mox  Photography by Randy...
Plaid pants.

Plaid pants.

Pajama dressing at it’s finest!  Although neither of these pieces are pajamas, they sure do feel like it!  Wide leg trousers and a classic button up are an easy way to dress comfortably while still looking chic.  Just make sure your pants don’t have an elastic waistband, as this will make the look too casual.  Throwing in patterns and some saucy shoes are always a must in my book, so plaid and shoes with a little sparkle were an easy choice.  What is your favorite pajama dressing outfit?
