Doin’ So Much Fringe in NYC.

Doin’ So Much Fringe in NYC.

This REBEL wall!  And how perfect with this outfit?  I loved the blue wall as well, which was near the REBEL wall, for the detail shots.  I love when a wall just compliments the outfit so perfectly, it ends up making the entire shoot so much more fun.  It kind of set the mood for the whole thing, you know?  I was obviously on one because look at all of the faces!  I’m just so silly, I know.   The clothes though, let’s talk about those!  I was on a tassel-y/fringe-y thing while in New York.  Who am I kidding? I’m always on a tassel-y/fringe-y thing.  I was so in love with the idea of fringe on my pants and a little extra tassel (in a lot of a extra color), on my neck!  One bright blue & gold Poppy Lissiman choker comin’ right up!  I decided to keep the shirt black & white, to accentuate the choker, and gave extra pops with the red sunglasses and sneaky-sneaks.   These sneakers were such a go-to while running around the city.  So comfortable!  Plus, fringe is made for movin’ and shakin’, so you have to have comfy shoes to do just that.  Again, who am I kidding?  You have to have comfy shoes to do anything in my eyes.  Ain’t no body got time for heels!  Except for sometimes.  Alright, I’m talking myself into one massive hole here because we all know that if you hand me a cute heel, I’mma make it work.   Especially if they have tassels.    Top: The Fifth Label via BNKR // Shorts: Rachel Comey //...
Don’t be a piece of paper. Please.

Don’t be a piece of paper. Please.

White on white!  It seems that white is popping up quite a bit this summer over here, bringing to light one very important detail: I need a tan/a beach day/a week in Hawaii.  Luckily for you, I have the tiniest bit of olive naturally in my skin so I don’t get completely lost in my outfit.    The trick though, really, is to build your white outfits without turning into a blank sheet of paper.  How do you do that without adding color in?  Well, a great place to start is with a tiny bit of a pattern, like in the pants above.  Granted the pattern is in black, but it’s not bringing in so much that it over powers the white.  Next is the most important step, different shades of white!  This is done all too perfectly, and might I add all too easily, with this crochet fringe collar from Absenta.   As soon as I saw this collar I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.  LAYER WITH WHITE.  It’s kind of odd, as layering whites isn’t something I normally do, but for some reason I knew it had to go with white.  Maybe it was the fact that it was slightly off white?  I think I like the thought of something adding interest to a plain white top, which is hard to do without completely taking it over with color.  Not with this collar though, it adds an incredible amount of detail to my top, while almost blending in and completely standing out at the same time.  Really it could go with any color...

A statement necklace is the best accessory to a plain white tee, and rocksbox.com is making it so easy to rock a new look every time you wear one!  Who knew a jewelry subscription service could expand your wardrobe so much?!? This necklace is one of three that came in my first Rocksbox, I’m telling you, it was like Christmas over here. Not only do they have some killer statement necklaces, they also have rings, earrings, you name it! Check them out and use code “oneturnkillxoxo” in the next month to get your first month free!  It’s okay, you can thank me later....

If there is one thing I like, it’s statement pieces.  Can I drill that into your head one more time?  I’m sure it will come up again, so don’t worry if you don’t get it this time.  Anyway, this hat is exactly that.  I saw it and I thought, “Gee, that hat is ugly.”  Then I walked around some more and saw it again, still thinking it was ugly, I kept on with my business.  The third time I saw it, yes, THE THIRD TIME, I said to it, “You are ugly.  I will take you home.”  And here it is, happily ever after plopped on my head!  What better way to make an outfit go from nothing to something than a mint green hat with neon orange trim! P.S. Check out this necklace.  For reals though, check it out!  It’s from a collection called Nobody’s Perfect Zodiac by Pretty Little Thing.  I am so in love with the cute sayings on the back to go with each astrological sign!  I am a Libra (Sup to my Baby Libra Star and all my other fellow scales!),  and my necklace says “You’re So Vain”!  Duh, I write a blog about myself because I love my clothes (and myself) just that much.  Wow, really?  Seriously though, go pop on over and see what yours says!  Bet it’s not as good as mine… Necklace: gifted Libra Necklace // Dress & Shoes: Urban Outfitters // Jacket: Vintage // Hat: Anthropologie // Socks: Top Shop Photography by Sumanta...
