High Waisted + Cabin 14

High Waisted + Cabin 14

I’ve been super inspired by 70s styling lately.  I normally don’t like to go full on retro with  my outfits, but this one just felt so right all together.  Don’t you think?  This tee makes me feel like summer is here and I seriously can’t wait to wear it with some high waisted shorts.  Nothing says summer more to me than tee shirts and cut offs, it’s summer’s uniform!  But until summer days actually hit I’m digging theses jeans and a pair of clog boots to top it off.   I think the trick to pulling off outfits like this is attitude.  All the time I hear people saying ” I could never pull that off!”  As Henry Ford oh so wisely said, “Whether you think you can or you think can’t, you’re right.”  If it makes you feel good, do it!  On this day, this outfit made me feel good, so I went with it.  I’m not saying that I never think back on outfits and wonder how it possibly could have made me feel good, but you only live once, so have fun!  No outfit regrets over here! Who woulda thought I would ever get so much use out of apple green boots?  Well I did, of course.  I’ve been throwin’ them on with everything, they are like a neutral!  Really they aren’t like a neutral, and I think that’s why I like them.  I’m makin’ them a neutral, sometimes with a major outfit win (like the one above), and sometimes it’s a fail and I don’t leave the house in it.  You gotta try right?  They are just the right green though that makes them wearable with lots of different outfits, in my opinion at least.  (Over here, it’s mostly only my opinion that matters when it comes to clothing choices, sometimes my boyfriends, but… not very often.)   Cut off mom jeans are quickly becoming a springtime staple, especially with any type of shoe that goes up beyond the fringed hem.  These boots and high top converse are on heavy rotation with these pants for sure.  I feel like it adds a little bit of flattery, when the hem hits just the right spot over the shoes, and creates the illusion that your ankle is longer.  Or something like that… It’s an illusion of sorts, and I like it.  I can’t stress to you enough though, how important the length of the pants is.  I have another pair of mom jeans that are a TINY bit longer and NOPE.  They definitely don’t work in these kinds of situations.  They end up making me look like I have no ankle at all.  Who wants that? NO ONE.  So, when you go to buy or cut your...
The Perfect Outfit for the Weekend

The Perfect Outfit for the Weekend

To continue with the conversation that was started on Monday about making any outfit your own, here is another example of how I did just that!  This time, instead of something being too boho, I felt like the outfit was going in an almost… too cutesy way.  Does that make sense?  I LOVE cute things, as you can probably tell from the pictures you have seen of my house here & here, but there is a line.  Where, or what, that line is, I have no idea.  Sometimes I just put pieces on or an outfit together that I think, “hmmm… this is just so cute.  Too cute.”  Maybe it’s because I’m getting old or something, but I wanted something to bring the outfit down a notch.   This entire outfit started with the clogs, which are super cute, but not too cute unless you pair them with a bunch of other too cute stuff.  Have I said cute enough for you yet?  I loved the clogs with this skirt, and I wanted an outfit that was geared toward the weekend since we’re sitting right on the edge here at Thursday.  How perfect is this floral skirt tied up in the front for walking around the farmers market?  Add in the basket bag (also used as a beach bag), and I think the deal is done!  Well, except for the fact that I needed a shirt.  I tried on a few tops and all of them were, just as I described above, making the outfit all too cute.   In swoops the crisp white button up!  Pairing the girlish...
