I’m just SO excited!

I’m just SO excited!

YOU GUYS! I am so excited to show you my hair!  I had my natural color for almost an entire year (that is definitely a record for me), so I was ready for a BIG change.  In comes my new favorite person in the entire world, Chloe!  She came to my house (huge bonus because I loath driving), brought everything she needed, and got to work making a colorful, happy masterpiece of my hair!  I literally can’t tell you guys how excited I am about it!  Maybe you can sense it because every sentence ends in an exclamation point?  Anyway, not only did she give me the cutest multi-colored head of hair, but she is FREAKIN’ adorable!  (Go check her out on Instagram, @sushimonstuh, you will see what I mean.)  Plus, now that my hair is this light, I can pretty much try out any color!  What’s next?  I dunno, but the door just swung wide open! Alright, want to talk about the clothes a little?  These shorts, which are normcore as all get-out, are popping up all over my wardrobe lately.  Case in point, the pair in When It’s Right.  The thing that is cool about this kind of piece is that it stands back to let other aspects of your outfit shine through, while still being comfortable and chic, in that late 30’s, dorky-mom-tourist kind of way.  You know?  Yea, you know.  The black pair above served as the perfect accompaniment to my Vere Verto Mox bag as a hip pack.  I’m like the coolest fanny pack and mom shorts wearing chick around, no?  What with my...
Doing a white tee the right way.

Doing a white tee the right way.

A statement necklace is the best accessory to a plain white tee, and rocksbox.com is making it so easy to rock a new look every time you wear one!  Who knew a jewelry subscription service could expand your wardrobe so much?!? This necklace is one of three that came in my first Rocksbox, I’m telling you, it was like Christmas over here. Not only do they have some killer statement necklaces, they also have rings, earrings, you name it! Check them out and use code “oneturnkillxoxo” in the next month to get your first month free!  It’s okay, you can thank me later....
So grounded.

So grounded.

I’m so in love with this culotte/legging pairing right now! I would totally rock it every day if wearing dirty clothing was acceptable.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?), it isn’t so I will try to space it out a bit.  Anyway, I love the shape that they create together, the skinny and the flowing, and the texture of the silky culottes against woven leggings.  Add in these little booties from ShoeMint and I am pretty sure we can call it a day.  Cute and comfortable, there is nothing better! I thought the necklace was the perfect piece for this outfit, with a little bit of color and the perfect amount of black to break up the white on top.  This Tiger Eye Mala from Karma Mantra is basically an everyday piece for me lately.  So easy to throw on with everything! Plus, Tiger Eye is said to have protective and grounding properties, and who couldn’t use a little bit of that?!? I mean, I AM TOTALLY GROUNDED OVER HERE.   Shirt: Anthropologie, similar here // Culottes: Urban Outfitters // Leggings: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: ShoeMint // Necklace: Karma Mantra  Photography by Randy...
Much ado about PATTERN.

Much ado about PATTERN.

I pretty much have a major thing against anything fashion related from the 80s, except for that sock-over-legging vibe, I’m all over that.  Anyway, this matching set was sitting there, all bright red and definitely from the 80s and for some reason, I had to have it.  I had to.  I had no choice in the matter, it spoke to me!  It’s possibly because the white things kind of look like ice cream cones with a bite taken out of them, or because of the fit?  I have no idea, but it is mine and you will see it again, so learn to love it in all of it’s red peplum-y goodness. To bring the vintage set into the now, I paired it with this amazing parrot necklace from JewlMint.  Have you guys checked them (or any of their “Mint” counterparts), out yet?  With JewlMint, StyleMint, and ShoeMint, they have ALL of the bases for holiday shopping, or for spoiling yourself, covered.  They have really unique pieces at very reasonable prices, you can’t checkout with just one thing, it’s just too hard to pick!  My necklace is from the JewelMint Around the World collection, which is perfectly curated pieces inspired by pieces from all over the world.  You should probably go check them out today, as it IS Cyber Monday, and see what treats they have in store and of course, let me know what you find! To top the whole outfit off, I threw in another Valas find, this amazing clutch!  Kind of pulls the entire outfit together don’t you think?  A brand I will definitely be keeping tabs...
Ice Cream.

Ice Cream.

Sooooo… the Portland based ice cream company, Salt & Straw, opened a location in LA.  Can you say bad news?  I can’t because it’s the best news, despite what Los Angeles’ waistlines might say.  With crazy flavors that you just have to try out (Avocado & Strawberry Sherbet, Tomato Water & Ojai Olive Oil Sherbet, and Black Olive Brittle & Goat Cheese), to more classic ice cream flavors (Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Single Origin Amadeas Vanilla), their ice cream is seriously THE BEST.  No, this isn’t a sponsered post and I wasn’t gifted anything, I just loooooooooove their ice cream and feel it is my duty to spread the word! On to the real story here though, or at least the reason you probably come to OTK, outfits and not ice cream.  This dress is an instant classic!  Why?  Dresses like these are perfect for pairing with something that you REALLY want to stand out.  With this outfit it was my BOUNDla wood necklace that I wanted people to be able to see, in all of it’s angular glory.  Here is my process from beginning to end: It starts with: the necklace. Next:  I had been dying to wear the necklace for some time, but I wanted an outfit that would really just serve as a background to it.  It pairs perfectly with tees, sweatshirts and mostly anything, but I really wanted it to pop.  My mom (Love you mom!) sent me this dress and I instantly knew they were made for each other!  The higher neckline of the dress makes the shape of the necklace really stand on...
