It’s Fall-ish! Pt. 1

It’s Fall-ish! Pt. 1

Let me tell you a little story about how this post was going to be about my outfit, and this Pumpkin Pie Cookie sandwich with Toasted Marshmallow ice cream was going to be a prop… But then there ended up being way too many cute pictures of Milk Jar Cookies AND of the outfit that I had to split it into two posts!  Pretty good story right?  Too many cute pictures are never a bad thing if you ask me, and neither are too many cookies! If there is such a thing… Well my friends, let’s get down to business here, shall we?  It’s fall pretty much everywhere.  Everywhere, that is, except good ol’ Southern California.  We’re still in the 80-90 degree range over here, making getting into the fall spirit somewhat of a challenge.  What is fall without a good cozy sweater?  A slight chill in the air?  Or how about a little pumpkin flavored goodness?  No, I’m not talking about your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill pumpkin spice latte here,  I’m talkin’ about the good stuff!  Like pumpkin bread!  Or pumpkin pie! (Maybe not for another month, but still.) OR PUMPKIN COOKIES!   Despite the lingering heat, Milk Jar Cookies has found a way to bring the fall to us in a more Southern California appropriate way, through an ice cream sandwich of course!  Toasted Marshmallow ice cream sandwiched between two freshly baked Pumpkin Pie cookies? Uhmmmm… Yum!  And quite pleasant to eat in the heat.  Not bad Milk Jar Cookies, NOT BAD.   Of course, to really get into the spirit of things I had to throw on an...

It’s all about the shoes.

It’s all about the shoes.

This outfit is one I could probably spend the rest of my days in and be just as happy as a clam!  An oversized tee dress, killer Valas platform shoes, and a leather jacket to keep me warm or oh-so-chicly tie around my waist, who could ask for more?  This jacket was a dream find as I have found most vintage leather jackets are either covered in fringe (don’t get me wrong, fringe is awesome, but it gives off a completely different vibe), or the shoulder pads are far too large.  To find one in such good condition and with only slight shoulder pads was a feat for the record in my opinion!  A brown leather jacket is a good basic to have in your wardrobe, one to wear with any and all, and in this case, stand as an accessory to the real star of the show here: these shoes!!! So I know that you already know I am in love with Valas as seen here, here, here and most recently, here.  And I have already talked about how they are a limited run company, with only 3 of each size of each pair of shoes and only 20 of each of their bags made.  BUT I haven’t told you that these beautiful shoes are handcrafted not only in the US, but right here in sunny Los Angeles.  You can tell with Valas shoes that not one single little detail was left out in the making.  On the Coco it’s the leather piping, the beautiful golden shoelace eyelets, and the leather covered platfrom really seal the deal.  Nothing goes untouched...
Baby Libra Star

Baby Libra Star

If there is one thing I like, it’s statement pieces.  Can I drill that into your head one more time?  I’m sure it will come up again, so don’t worry if you don’t get it this time.  Anyway, this hat is exactly that.  I saw it and I thought, “Gee, that hat is ugly.”  Then I walked around some more and saw it again, still thinking it was ugly, I kept on with my business.  The third time I saw it, yes, THE THIRD TIME, I said to it, “You are ugly.  I will take you home.”  And here it is, happily ever after plopped on my head!  What better way to make an outfit go from nothing to something than a mint green hat with neon orange trim! P.S. Check out this necklace.  For reals though, check it out!  It’s from a collection called Nobody’s Perfect Zodiac by Pretty Little Thing.  I am so in love with the cute sayings on the back to go with each astrological sign!  I am a Libra (Sup to my Baby Libra Star and all my other fellow scales!),  and my necklace says “You’re So Vain”!  Duh, I write a blog about myself because I love my clothes (and myself) just that much.  Wow, really?  Seriously though, go pop on over and see what yours says!  Bet it’s not as good as mine… Necklace: gifted Libra Necklace // Dress & Shoes: Urban Outfitters // Jacket: Vintage // Hat: Anthropologie // Socks: Top Shop Photography by Sumanta...
