It’s Fall-ish! Pt. 2

It’s Fall-ish! Pt. 2

Because one day of cookies isn’t enough.   This outfit from Alli K has single handedly made me want to move to a colder climate.  Ha!  Totally kidding.  Seriously, I’m kidding.  I love me some LA sun!  This set will be perfect for LA once the “winter” hits, you know, when it gets down in the 60s & 70s.  This outfit had me from the start, in all of it’s squiggly goodness.  Plus, I am a sucker for matching sets, and even more of a sucker for matching sets that are comfortable.  This one fits the bill and as soon as the weather got down below 80 (for the short 24 hours that it did), I threw it on faster than you can say squash bottom!  I have no idea why squash bottom, it’s just the first thing that came to my mind… Anyway, it was the perfect outfit for the day paired with my trusty Hare + Hart bucket bag.  I also have it in tan and mint, seen here & here & also 1 million other places, and they have become my go-to bags for running around.  They fit everything!  And I always get so many compliments on them, and who doesn’t like that?!?   Now, go ahead, soak in the awesomeness that is me eating a Pumpkin Pie Cookie with Toasted Marshmallow Ice Cream sandwich in a killer matching set, all the while toting around my bag.  YOU ARE WELCOME. It’s Fall-ish! Pt. 1

Let me tell you a little story about how this post was going to be about my outfit, and this Pumpkin Pie Cookie sandwich with Toasted Marshmallow ice cream was going to be a prop… But then there ended up being way too many cute pictures of Milk Jar Cookies AND of the outfit that I had to split it into two posts!  Pretty good story right?  Too many cute pictures are never a bad thing if you ask me, and neither are too many cookies! If there is such a thing… Well my friends, let’s get down to business here, shall we?  It’s fall pretty much everywhere.  Everywhere, that is, except good ol’ Southern California.  We’re still in the 80-90 degree range over here, making getting into the fall spirit somewhat of a challenge.  What is fall without a good cozy sweater?  A slight chill in the air?  Or how about a little pumpkin flavored goodness?  No, I’m not talking about your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill pumpkin spice latte here,  I’m talkin’ about the good stuff!  Like pumpkin bread!  Or pumpkin pie! (Maybe not for another month, but still.) OR PUMPKIN COOKIES!   Despite the lingering heat, Milk Jar Cookies has found a way to bring the fall to us in a more Southern California appropriate way, through an ice cream sandwich of course!  Toasted Marshmallow ice cream sandwiched between two freshly baked Pumpkin Pie cookies? Uhmmmm… Yum!  And quite pleasant to eat in the heat.  Not bad Milk Jar Cookies, NOT BAD.   Of course, to really get into the spirit of things I had to throw on an...
Topped with a Tomato.

Topped with a Tomato.

If you follow me on Instagram (which I am sure you do because why would you do that to me?), you saw that I went to a Tillamook Co-op event in Malibu.  Why Tillamook?  Because it sounded fun and mostly it sounded D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. Well my friends, it was fun!  And more importantly, delicious doesn’t even begin to explain the treats we had!   From sour cream ice cream topped with tomato and balsamic vinaigrette,  to aged sharp cheddar, swiss, and Colby topped with wild spices and foraged seeds, everything was so YUMMY!  Even cooler, they actually had a professional forager (yes, that exists in Los Angeles of all places), tell us about some of the seeds and herbs available in the LA area.  Want to know my favorite thing that I learned?  All pine is edible!  Who knew?   Although the food was obviously amazing, the scenery wasn’t so bad either.  It was held at One Gun Ranch which sits high in Malibu and looks over the ocean and beautiful greenery.  Plus, there were animals!  Pigs and alpacas and horses and dogs and…. I’m sure there were more, that’s just all I can think of off of the top of my head.   All in all, I would consider this event a win.  Well… except for that it was one million degrees, but I think that was a bit out of their hands.   Photography by Eli Sims  ...
High Waisted + Cabin 14

High Waisted + Cabin 14

I’ve been super inspired by 70s styling lately.  I normally don’t like to go full on retro with  my outfits, but this one just felt so right all together.  Don’t you think?  This tee makes me feel like summer is here and I seriously can’t wait to wear it with some high waisted shorts.  Nothing says summer more to me than tee shirts and cut offs, it’s summer’s uniform!  But until summer days actually hit I’m digging theses jeans and a pair of clog boots to top it off.   I think the trick to pulling off outfits like this is attitude.  All the time I hear people saying ” I could never pull that off!”  As Henry Ford oh so wisely said, “Whether you think you can or you think can’t, you’re right.”  If it makes you feel good, do it!  On this day, this outfit made me feel good, so I went with it.  I’m not saying that I never think back on outfits and wonder how it possibly could have made me feel good, but you only live once, so have fun!  No outfit regrets over here!
