Overall Shorts All Grown Up, pt. 2

Overall Shorts All Grown Up, pt. 2

As we all know, oh so well as they have been quite the trend for the last couple of years, overalls can be very hard to pull of in an adult manner.  Even more so when they are the short version of the half bib, half bottom wardrobe conundrum we, for some reason, call fashionable.  Don’t get me wrong, I love them!  In every shape and size, as shown here, here, and here.  BUT, you definitely have to be careful about what you style around these guys.  I decided to pull mine into adulthood through a couple of more “grown-up” pieces, aka with killer shoes and a clutch.  I also thought showing a little skin up top with a crop top underneath them would help my case.  This kind of outfit is perfect for a date on summer nights or for lunch on the weekends.  Comfortable, chic, and undeniably cute, but not TOO cute.   I also have some pant overalls that I haven’t worn for quite a while that I need to pull out and make grow up as well.  I’ll keep you posted, I’m sure.  For more ways to force your “shortalls” into adulthood, check out Shortalls All Grown Up. What color is that?

What color is that?

Red.  It’s red.  Is this my Valentine’s outfit?  It could be, but really I just wanted to wear it.  I chose the top and pants and then it just seemed natural to add in the red shoes.  Every other pair of shoes just looked like it wasn’t… RED enough.  I loved the different tones all put together in one outfit.  Sometimes it is hard to pull outfits like this off, if the pieces are too close in color it can look like one of the items has just faded.  You have to find the right mix of different tones of the same color.  GOOD LUCK. High waisted vintage wool slacks are probably one of the easiest things to come across.  Seriously though, go down to any thrift store and there are sure to be an abundance of them in all different colors, patterns, and sizes.  I prefer them to be slightly cropped, so either I roll them or have them hemmed a bit.  So easy to find, so easy to wear, and since they come in every single color out there, you could pretty much wear different ones every day!  Just what you always wanted right?  High waisted granny pants for you!  And you!  And YOU! Lips + Faces

Lips + Faces

Was this bag made for me or what?  Sunita Mukhi does it again, this time with the Diamond Collection, and the Lola is clearly to die for.  Bright colors, in general, are my thing and this bag called for the best and brightest aka this crop top and vintage skirt.  I have no idea why I have this obsession with lips, it may have been inherited from my mother, who knows.  Either way, I couldn’t have designed a more perfect bag for myself!  You seriously know you want one of these.  Seriously though, you do.
