High Waisted + Cabin 14

High Waisted + Cabin 14

I’ve been super inspired by 70s styling lately.  I normally don’t like to go full on retro with  my outfits, but this one just felt so right all together.  Don’t you think?  This tee makes me feel like summer is here and I seriously can’t wait to wear it with some high waisted shorts.  Nothing says summer more to me than tee shirts and cut offs, it’s summer’s uniform!  But until summer days actually hit I’m digging theses jeans and a pair of clog boots to top it off.   I think the trick to pulling off outfits like this is attitude.  All the time I hear people saying ” I could never pull that off!”  As Henry Ford oh so wisely said, “Whether you think you can or you think can’t, you’re right.”  If it makes you feel good, do it!  On this day, this outfit made me feel good, so I went with it.  I’m not saying that I never think back on outfits and wonder how it possibly could have made me feel good, but you only live once, so have fun!  No outfit regrets over here! Who woulda thought I would ever get so much use out of apple green boots?  Well I did, of course.  I’ve been throwin’ them on with everything, they are like a neutral!  Really they aren’t like a neutral, and I think that’s why I like them.  I’m makin’ them a neutral, sometimes with a major outfit win (like the one above), and sometimes it’s a fail and I don’t leave the house in it.  You gotta try right?  They are just the right green though that makes them wearable with lots of different outfits, in my opinion at least.  (Over here, it’s mostly only my opinion that matters when it comes to clothing choices, sometimes my boyfriends, but… not very often.)   Cut off mom jeans are quickly becoming a springtime staple, especially with any type of shoe that goes up beyond the fringed hem.  These boots and high top converse are on heavy rotation with these pants for sure.  I feel like it adds a little bit of flattery, when the hem hits just the right spot over the shoes, and creates the illusion that your ankle is longer.  Or something like that… It’s an illusion of sorts, and I like it.  I can’t stress to you enough though, how important the length of the pants is.  I have another pair of mom jeans that are a TINY bit longer and NOPE.  They definitely don’t work in these kinds of situations.  They end up making me look like I have no ankle at all.  Who wants that? NO ONE.  So, when you go to buy or cut your...
The Perfect Outfit for the Weekend

The Perfect Outfit for the Weekend

To continue with the conversation that was started on Monday about making any outfit your own, here is another example of how I did just that!  This time, instead of something being too boho, I felt like the outfit was going in an almost… too cutesy way.  Does that make sense?  I LOVE cute things, as you can probably tell from the pictures you have seen of my house here & here, but there is a line.  Where, or what, that line is, I have no idea.  Sometimes I just put pieces on or an outfit together that I think, “hmmm… this is just so cute.  Too cute.”  Maybe it’s because I’m getting old or something, but I wanted something to bring the outfit down a notch.   This entire outfit started with the clogs, which are super cute, but not too cute unless you pair them with a bunch of other too cute stuff.  Have I said cute enough for you yet?  I loved the clogs with this skirt, and I wanted an outfit that was geared toward the weekend since we’re sitting right on the edge here at Thursday.  How perfect is this floral skirt tied up in the front for walking around the farmers market?  Add in the basket bag (also used as a beach bag), and I think the deal is done!  Well, except for the fact that I needed a shirt.  I tried on a few tops and all of them were, just as I described above, making the outfit all too cute.   In swoops the crisp white button up!  Pairing the girlish...
Doin’ my thing.

Doin’ my thing.

Whew, after Coachella it’s been rough getting back into the normal swing of things.  After like what felt like an eternity of prepping and waiting, it has come and gone, and what do you know!?!  The world is still turning outside of the little ‘Chella bubble I was in!  Seriously though, it’s kind of nice to get back to normal.  Weekend two starts today though, so some of you are just getting started!  Did you see my video on it by the way?  It’s right over here. I have a thing for boots, if it wasn’t apparent already, but I REALLY have a thing for boots in cool colors.  These clog boots, my friends, fit the bill.  The color is called Sydney Apple Green, and I think it fits it quite perfectly.  I don’t know why I was so drawn to this color for spring, as normally I feel like this is a fall color, but it was such a refreshing green to go with all of the other normal spring colors.  I think pieces like these, that can translate to any season, are the ones worth having and keeping around.  I really can’t wait for the leather to wear in, I feel like they are going to look even better all roughed up!  I’ll keep you updated, I’m sure.   Boots: Lotta from Stockholm // Dress: House of Holland // Clutch & Sunglasses: Anthropologie  Photography by Eli...
Baby Libra Star

Baby Libra Star

If there is one thing I like, it’s statement pieces.  Can I drill that into your head one more time?  I’m sure it will come up again, so don’t worry if you don’t get it this time.  Anyway, this hat is exactly that.  I saw it and I thought, “Gee, that hat is ugly.”  Then I walked around some more and saw it again, still thinking it was ugly, I kept on with my business.  The third time I saw it, yes, THE THIRD TIME, I said to it, “You are ugly.  I will take you home.”  And here it is, happily ever after plopped on my head!  What better way to make an outfit go from nothing to something than a mint green hat with neon orange trim! P.S. Check out this necklace.  For reals though, check it out!  It’s from a collection called Nobody’s Perfect Zodiac by Pretty Little Thing.  I am so in love with the cute sayings on the back to go with each astrological sign!  I am a Libra (Sup to my Baby Libra Star and all my other fellow scales!),  and my necklace says “You’re So Vain”!  Duh, I write a blog about myself because I love my clothes (and myself) just that much.  Wow, really?  Seriously though, go pop on over and see what yours says!  Bet it’s not as good as mine… Necklace: gifted Libra Necklace // Dress & Shoes: Urban Outfitters // Jacket: Vintage // Hat: Anthropologie // Socks: Top Shop Photography by Sumanta...
