Win-win kind of outfit.

Win-win kind of outfit.

I think it’s safe to say this is some of the most chic pajama dressing there is.  Comfy drop crotch shorts & a cute sweatshirt made perfect by heeled boots!  The sweatshirt of course has elements of it’s own that take it out of lazy day territory, with it’s geometric quilting and rather awesome snake graphic.  And the shorts?  Well… FRINGE.  Pretty sure I have worn this outfit three times in the last week.  Don’t judge me. I’m smack dab in the middle of a love affair with these red vintage boots too, so what better way to take my all black, all-too comfortable outfit to the next level! And the clutch?  The clutch gives the whole outfit a little something extra.  I think a black bag would have been too obvious but the tan one stands out against the outfit, while still being pulled into it with the tans and golden yellows of the snake.  This is what we call a win-win outfit my friends, now go snag this sweatshirt for your own!  Sweatshirt: Norwegian Wood // Shorts: Rachel Comey // Boots: Vintage // Bag: Marie...

Has anyone noticed that I seem to go through spurts of super colorful clothing and then spurts of black/white and I just go back and forth and back and forth?  No?  Well this is awkward. Ha, just kidding!  No awkwardness over here.  Unless you count the fact that somehow my pants are on backwards as I write this…  ANYWAY, I do seem to go through spells of color or black and white.  I thought it was connected to the seasons, but this spell of dark clothing plopped itself right down in the middle of spring.  I have no explanation for it, it just kind of happens, and I just let it.  I always want to be authentic, and sometimes that means bright colors that make even me want to puke, and sometimes that means all black with a couple of splashes of awesome.  Case in point, this outfit with a killer printed tee, silver boots, and a bag that could very well be used as a weapon (not unlike this one).    Plain black outfits definitely need a little spunk, don’t you think?  Like the jumpsuit I posted on Monday.  A little somethin’ somethin’ never hurt anyone.  In fact, it only helps!  Maybe you are having a frumpy day, when anything you put on just doesn’t make you feel like yourself.  Throw on some black and add in your favorite statement accessory and call it a day!  Or maybe you just feel all black some days but are dying to wear a pair of crazy colored shoes.  Insert all black here!  See?  Your wardrobe problems solved right here on...
Jumpsuit + Leopard

Jumpsuit + Leopard

Let’s talk, just for a minute, about man repelling.  It’s the glorious idea of dressing in such a way that repels the opposite sex, brought to us by none other than the OG man repeller, Leandra Medine.  Full length jumpsuits are listed by name as one of the items that are straight up man repelling.  Do I care? Not one bit.  Will I wear them anyway? Of course!  Now, some of you may say that this is because I already have a boyfriend that will love me even if I choose to jaunt around town in a potato sack, BUT this isn’t true.  Well, it is true that he would love me in a potato sack, but it isn’t true that this is the only reason I allow myself to dress this way.  The number one reason I wear things like the very unflattering and completely matronly jumpsuit shown above is because I feel good in it.  Read: GOOD.  I did not say skinny, sexy, or any such thing.  I said good.  I feel so good in jump suits!  You don’t have to worry about things falling down when bending over or things coming up when arms are reaching above the head.  No, I am covered.  From head to toe I’m covered and I can go about my merry way sans any unwanted skin showing.  Not only does this jumpsuit have me all covered up, but the fit of it is such that I look about three sizes wider than I actually am.  As a clothing item that seems to want to hold it’s shape no matter what is...
The shapes do it.

The shapes do it.

Although this outfit is black, navy, and brown, it is the shapes that make it what it is.  Shape play in clothing is one of my favorite things to do.  How does the shape of a shirt change how I feel? How I look?  How I can dance?  Yes, being able to dance is very important in clothing choices on a daily basis.  Anyway, I love these shapes together. The structured look of the Kimem pants with the skirt over paired with the loose fit of the button up navy shirt just makes me feel good.  What’s better than that?  Nothing. Jumpsuiting + Some Velvet

Jumpsuiting + Some Velvet

It starts with: The jumpsuit, of course, in all of it’s one piece goodness. Next: The socks!  Add in a pop of color to an otherwise all black outfit with none other than sockies!  I felt like colored shoes would have been too obvious, so I went with purple socks and black shoes.  You have to choose socks that aren’t too bright that would distract the eye from the black.  Jewel tones, I think, do just the trick.  Plus, nothing says fall like jewel tones!  Still feeling like the outfit was missing something, and also because the jumpsuit has belt loops, I wanted something that wasn’t necessarily all black to top it all off.  I knew a studded belt would be the perfect match because the metal adds a little something without pulling another color into the mix.  PERFECT! How it ends: A slap of that very same jewel tone purple right on the lips and a backpack (just to further the childlike feeling that jumpsuits give you), and hit the road jack!
