Adventures in White Dressing.

Adventures in White Dressing.

You guys, I went for it.  Went for what you ask?  A WHITE DRESS.  My goodness, the anxiety that normally comes with a white dress… Can you see through it?  Is my underwear line visible? What about in this light?  How about that light?  What if I turn this way and stick my butt out a little bit?  (I seriously do this when determining the sheerness of a fabric I am wearing.  My boyfriend gets a kick out of it every time.) When I first read that the fabric used to make this dress was opaque, my first thought was “Mmmmhmmmm. In your dreams.”  But, against my better judgement, I went for it anyway.  I mean is there a more quintessentially summer piece than a white halter dress?  I’m here to tell you folks, there is not.  You know that though, right?  So there I was when the package came, waiting to see right through this dress as I put it on, just to be pleasantly proven wrong by the geniuses over at Marie Hell.  Can you imagine?  A white dress that you can’t see right through?  Impossible!  Can you see through this dress though?  No my friends, you cannot.   So here I am, going about my lovely business in my opaque white dress!  I wanted to add a little color (always), so went for this pink hat almost immediately.  Black band around pink hat?  Well that calls for black boots I think!   Black boots?  I think that means black purse!   Oh.  Nope.   A black bag was just not vibin’, which sometimes happen in the wild...
Purple Leather.

Purple Leather.

I love the idea of long shirts over knee length skirts!  I think it adds something new and refreshing to a button up and pencil skirt.  Speaking of the skirt, how awesome is this vintage purple leather skirt?  I found it at a thrift store and it came with an equally as purple, but not equally as awesome, puffy sleeved bolero jacket.  I had to buy them both in order to bring home the skirt, but it was well worth it!   As for the shoes, well that’s a whole thing in and of itself!  I always talk about this piece pulling this other piece into the outfit through the color, but the black of the shoes and socks was nowhere to be found in the rest of the outfit!  I thought I was going to wear a black purse with this, but when I put it all together it was just too heavy and overwhelming to have something black in my hand.  I decided to go with this purple and red clutch from Anthropologie (check out the little fruit man, it’s awesome), to add a little interest to a color blocked outfit.  But alas, there still was no black to be found and that’s when I realized I didn’t have sunglasses!   As everyone knows, LA is sunny.  It’s almost ALWAYS sunny!  I love it, don’t get me wrong, but if you want the kind of light I like in my shoots, you are definitely going to have to wear sunglasses.  What a perfect way to bring in the black than with some black rimmed sunglasses?  Don’t forget...
Doin’ my thing.

Doin’ my thing.

Whew, after Coachella it’s been rough getting back into the normal swing of things.  After like what felt like an eternity of prepping and waiting, it has come and gone, and what do you know!?!  The world is still turning outside of the little ‘Chella bubble I was in!  Seriously though, it’s kind of nice to get back to normal.  Weekend two starts today though, so some of you are just getting started!  Did you see my video on it by the way?  It’s right over here. I have a thing for boots, if it wasn’t apparent already, but I REALLY have a thing for boots in cool colors.  These clog boots, my friends, fit the bill.  The color is called Sydney Apple Green, and I think it fits it quite perfectly.  I don’t know why I was so drawn to this color for spring, as normally I feel like this is a fall color, but it was such a refreshing green to go with all of the other normal spring colors.  I think pieces like these, that can translate to any season, are the ones worth having and keeping around.  I really can’t wait for the leather to wear in, I feel like they are going to look even better all roughed up!  I’ll keep you updated, I’m sure.   Boots: Lotta from Stockholm // Dress: House of Holland // Clutch & Sunglasses: Anthropologie  Photography by Eli...
Getting things together.

Getting things together.

This little cluster of things sits on my table in my kitchen.  I love putting together little areas of things that make me happy.  Either clustering things together on a tray, hanging things I love by my door to greet me, or decorating shelves with silly toys, these little areas can be found all around my house.  So many things to share with you guys so soon, be excited!  More about my house, about my life, and even documentation of the random inkling to cook!  Well, really it’s my boyfriend who does the cooking, but I love the making-it-cute-for-a-picture part.   This is just a taste, so stick around and bear with my short absence from frequent posting as I get everything ready! Rabbit: Anthropologie, they are out of stock, but I think these would make for the perfect replacement! // Candle: Anthropologie // Copper tray: Target, similar idea here and here // Tea towel: HomeGoods // Suckers:...
