This sweater is everything and consequently, where it starts today!

It starts with: The biggest, fluffiest, warmest vintage plaid sweater.

Next:  I needed something to wear under the massive sweater that would kind of balance out the weight of it.  Nothing is worse than massive on top, massive on bottom, and just turning out as one massive marshmallow person.  When I say nothing is worse, I mean that as in for today, that is not what I wanted, tomorrow I may definitely want to be a walking marshmallow.  Any way, I decided to show a little skin to offset the sweater, as well as add in an airy aspect with a light weight shirt dress.  After having the dress and sweater on, I knew that I needed shoes to hold their own weight in the outfit.  Something kind of tough, kind of flirty, and perfectly vintage Armani.  The shape and laces of the boots make them really stand out, bringing some of the interest of the outfit down to my feet, instead of again, making everything about the massive sweater.  Sometimes it isn’t just about the weight of the pieces in your outfit, but the fact that they stand out can make them hold their own against something so big.

How it ends: The Lola.  This bag was just SCREAMING to be worn with this outfit.  I wasn’t expecting to add in another statement piece, as I felt the sweater and boots were enough, but come on!  Sometimes it just feels so right, and with the lips purse, it was too perfect!

Hope that helps you along your own wardrobe journey!  Look at things differently, try it on your own, and let me know how it goes!

  1. Oh. My. God. This outfit is the most amazing thing I’ve seen all week. You balanced out that sweater so so friggen well- it looks like a dream. And that purse is the coolest thing ever- it was like made for this outfit.
