Happiest, Cutest Valentine’s Day

Happiest, Cutest Valentine’s Day

I went to the cutest Galentine’s Day party last night in Brooklyn, hosted by Sam Ushiro, Jordan Sondler, and Melissa Torres. We got so many goodies from Ban.do and were definitely overloaded with cuteness, (if that is even a thing). Anyway, I thought I would share a couple of shots, so you could get in on the cuteness too! Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope your day is full of...
Really, it’s all about the towels.

Really, it’s all about the towels.

When dealing with a tiny bathroom (as seems to be all that exist in the L.A. area), there are two very important things to keep in mind. Numero uno: cuteness! (This goes for everything always.) Numero dos (and probably what is actually number one in real life): functionality!  I’m not going to lie, mashing these two priorities together can be extremely tricky sometimes. Lucky for you, I live for just such the conundrum, and I am here to show you how I’ve pulled them both together in my teeny-tiny little bathroom! So, if you notice in the pictures, there isn’t so much as one drawer built in to the space. There is, thank goodness, at least an under the sink cabinet (although it also houses all of the pipes which annoyingly take up space), and also a mirror cabinet. Other than that, the bathroom has zip, zero, zilch for storage space. You wanna know what? This girl has some stuff! Curlers and lotions and makeup and blah blah blah. I’m assuming that, unless you are some kind of a freak, you also have some stuff! What do we do with this stuff when there is basically nowhere to hide it?  This is precisely where cuteness and functionality must collide.  The trick to pulling off a room where mostly everything is accessible while still looking good is finding eye appealing storage. And if you are me, which you aren’t so take this for what it is worth, the storage must also be quirky and different. Yes, I could have bought a pre made bathroom storage cabinet of some sort and...
Please, Part Deux.

Please, Part Deux.

Fail, fail, fail!  I have posted about half as much as I normally do in the last two weeks!  Why you ask?  I’ll tell ya, I’m moving!  So, instead of trying to juggle moving and very half-assedly blogging and very full-assedly failing, I’m going to take the next little bit off of writing to get a hold on things.   On top of the big move, I’m also attending New York Fashion week this year (insert celebratory horn & confetti emoji thing here)!  But this is my first time and there is so much planning and emailing and planning and more emailing that goes into it!  Trust me, I’m more than glad to be doing it and to be where I am, but a girls gotta have time to breath, you know?  The chances of me actually having time to breath in the next week are slim to none, but I promise you I’m going to try!  I also promise that I will be back at my normal antics sooner than you know!   Too many exclamation points for one paragraph? Maybe, but it’s exciting over here right now, even with all of the work!  Now step on down off of your exclamatory high horse, PLEASE excuse my absence, and follow me over on Instagram and Snapchat (@oneturnkill for both), because I’ll pop in over there to say hi every now and then.  ...

Prints & Things.

As I mentioned in Welcoming and Bidding Adieu, it’s important to have the things you love around you.  I love finding new ways to incorporate the things I love, and that inspire me, into my home decor.  I thought I would show you guys a small section of my living room and how I have made it a sort of collage of found items.  My work area is also stationed on this wall, and I will definitely be doing a post about that space, but for now here is a little glimpse of what I see every day!   The important part about building areas like this is to not try to do it all at once, otherwise it can end up looking forced.  Just start collecting things!  I have had some of these things for years and some for only a month or so.  It’s also fun because I can move things around and switch them out if I am getting tired of seeing the same things.  Do you have a collage of loved items on your wall?  Have you found any interesting ways of displaying your inspiration?  Prints: I Love the Shit Out of You & I Want Candy by Idieh Design // Red & Black Postcards: Jordan Sondler // Print Hangers: Target // Skull & Florio S.O.M Print: gifts // Bird Posters: Ikea // White Frames: Ikea // Throws: Ikea // Pot & O Light: Home Goods // Mirror, Chair, & Tambourine: Vintage ...
Welcoming and Bidding Adieu: Styling Front Door Spaces

Welcoming and Bidding Adieu: Styling Front Door Spaces

It’s no surprise I like quirky things, right?  I like quirky things so much that I want them to be the last thing I see when I leave my house (you know, for a good sendoff!), and the first thing I see when I open my front door!  It is important to have things you love all around you, but I think entry ways and front door spaces in general are usually forgotten and left behind.  Not over here!  Even though I don’t have a formal entry way I have found ways to make the door hold it’s own against the other living areas.  I gather things from all around to perfectly position to greet, or bid adieu, whoever may come into my home.   Since I don’t have much space in my tiny Los Angeles apartment, most of what goes here serves a purpose.  The hand hook is used to hold whichever purse I might be using at the moment and to hold a cute little “Home Sweet Home” sign I picked up while living in New York.  The ice cream cone bank is a great place to dump any pocket change I have gathered throughout the day, instead of letting it get lost in the laundry.  Putting little pieces, like the plant tray under the bank, add interest to any piece and make them seem more deliberately placed instead of just dumped in a corner.  My umbrella is both cute and obviously functional (although I hardly ever have to use it), so it can sit out without being a nuisance.  Add in a couple of other things...
Getting things together.

Getting things together.

This little cluster of things sits on my table in my kitchen.  I love putting together little areas of things that make me happy.  Either clustering things together on a tray, hanging things I love by my door to greet me, or decorating shelves with silly toys, these little areas can be found all around my house.  So many things to share with you guys so soon, be excited!  More about my house, about my life, and even documentation of the random inkling to cook!  Well, really it’s my boyfriend who does the cooking, but I love the making-it-cute-for-a-picture part.   This is just a taste, so stick around and bear with my short absence from frequent posting as I get everything ready! Rabbit: Anthropologie, they are out of stock, but I think these would make for the perfect replacement! // Candle: Anthropologie // Copper tray: Target, similar idea here and here // Tea towel: HomeGoods // Suckers:...
