Hands free devices a.k.a. glorified fanny packs.

Hands free devices a.k.a. glorified fanny packs.

Anything to get away from a purse, even if it means a fanny pack.  This one is great though really, because it’s leather AND it’s cute.  I can fit all of the essentials, cash, cards, and hand sanitizer.   With skirts, with dresses, with jeans, all is fair in love and fanny packs. Let’s get down to what is really important here though, the skirt.  This houndstooth skirt is one of my favorite vintage finds to date!  Seriously, I could wear it every day!  With tee shirts, with crop tops, with killer 90s footwear, all is fair in, well, you get it.  I love it.  And even though I said let’s get to the important thing and then talked about the skirt, the important thing really is the leather fanny pack.  Don’t you forget it. Lip Stain Testing? Done.

Lip Stain Testing? Done.

In my search for anything but lipstick, because for some reason lipstick drives me nuts, I have come across many a lip stain.  Almost every makeup brand out there has some sort of long lasting or stain lip color, but what actually works?  I decided to test the three main kinds found at drugstores: the marker stain, glossy stain, and a lip balm type stain.  I grabbed one of each, and I was on my way!  For each test I wore the stain for at least four hours, none of them lasted any longer than that. Marker type stain: CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Scarlet Pucker Pros: no fuss after it had dried, vibrant color Cons: can’t mess up during application, only lasted one hour, made lips look dried out and cracked after initial application, flaked off into teeth after a couple of hours *On a different occasion I tried adding lip gloss and chapstick over this to help with the dried out look, I found it just makes it flake off faster, so that was no good!   Balm type stain:  Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Romantic Pros: easy to apply, kept lips moisturized for a couple of hours, didn’t flake off, wore off evenly Cons: color wasn’t as vibrant as the others   Glossy type stain: L’Oréal Color Riche Wet Shine Stain in Endless Red Pros: super glossy, wore out fairly evenly, lips felt moisturized, shine lasted almost the full four hours, very vivid color Cons: very sticky, did seem to flake color into my teeth a tiny bit, a little difficult to get on  ...
Crop Top + Tee

Crop Top + Tee

Here in sunny LA we aren’t quite having fall yet.  It still gets up to 80 degrees and coats, or even light jackets, are not quite needed, at least during the day.  So, how do you dress for this?  Especially coming from somewhere that has no fall or spring to speak of, only 100 degrees or 10 degrees, summer or winter.  It’s summer to warm fall transition dressing, not summer to crisp fall transition dressing, that I am working with here.  I am not complaining even one bit about the warmth, trust me, but I do crave something a little different in the closet area. In order to make things more fall relevant, without over dressing for the sun, I have mixed seasons together!  Layering a crop top over a tee shirt and running around in boyfriend jeans rather than cut off shorts brings everything into the next season.  If you happen to be in a place where the chill has begun, grab a leather jacket to throw on or pair with a long sleeve shirt!  How many layers can we put on at once?  Well, lots.  Don’t try to count, just keep stacking until you are warm enough.  Crop tops with cut outs make for perfect pieces of interest over any old tee.  The older and worn in the better!  Which reminds me, has anyone found the perfectly worn in soft tee they would like to share?  I have found many, sold in stores from A-Z, but it just never seems to be the same as a genuinely worn in shirt.  Let me know what your favorite...
