Whoomp! There it is!

Whoomp! There it is!

Press play, then go on.     I absolutely love the outfit I shot for my The Realist Spotlight over on Theurbanrealist.com! I couldn’t help but share the rest of the photos from the day.  This is exactly the kind of outfit I live for.  Something that just happens to come together because I feel like wearing this top, and I always want to wear this skirt, and whoomp!  There it is! I literally can’t get enough of this American Apparel top.  If it isn’t apparent already, by… I dunno… my logo, I love lips!  Looooooooove lips.  When this top was pointed out to me, I had it ordered before I even knew exactly what the actual top looked like.  Who cares, pink and lips!  That is all that I need to survive really. You should try it out, you’ll die happy, I swear. I mentioned in “Pretties” that I was building up an arsenal of matching sets for fall, well, this skirt comes from one of them.  The jacket is more of a chilly day piece, but why waste such a cute skirt while it’s hot!  Paired with some 90s red leather boots, I think I got it spot on.  Not to toot my own horn or anything… but kinda.  I mean, I love it and I’m not afraid to show it. Top: American Apparel // Skirt: Vintage // Boots: Vintage P.S. I figured you would want a soundtrack to this one…  ...
Who wears short shorts?

Who wears short shorts?

Well I mean, come on, I couldn’t resist the name right?  Anyway, I love boyfriend jeans, but when it’s hot, I love cut off boyfriend jeans even more.  What better to throw on when it is a scorching 95 degrees than Levi’s cut offs?  Nothing!  There is nothing better and you know it!  Except maybe a swimsuit, but don’t tell anyone. This vintage handbag is quickly becoming a staple.  Navy blue, just in time for fall, and cute as can be!  Perfectly paired with my shiny shoes and a button up, because a button up goes with everything.  And so do shiny shoes of course! Blouse:  Vintage // Shorts: Vintage Levi’s cut offs, bomb! // Shoes: 14th & Union, also in “A little somethin’ somethin’.” // Purse: Vintage // Sunnies: Random shop in California (How is that for information?)  ...
Dog Days of Summer

Dog Days of Summer

The hottest days of the year are here, of course right before fall, right when the September issue is upon us.  We are all starting to crave cooler days, in all of their sweater-y socked glory, but the heat definitely puts a damper on things.  Well, fear not my friends!  I have come with a little relief! Starting with a mani and pedi, I love the change of colors in polish when fall begins to buzz.  Darker colors seem like such a welcome break after such bold bright hues all summer long.  OPI killed it with the colors in their San Francisco line this year, this deep purple being my favorite!  With dark nails in tow and temperatures consistently rising above 90 degrees, throw on some easy blush and mascara and call it a day!  This YSL Créme de Blush is light as can be and adds the perfect peachy glow to bronzed summer skin. Speaking of summer skin, I like to keep mine soft and supple with body oils, my fav being this lovely stuff by Vered.  The fresh smelling essential oils come together to make your skin feel and smell ready for anything.  And don’t forget about your summer hair!  Which, really, doesn’t sound as enticing as summer skin, mostly because that usually means a whole lot of chlorine buildup.  A nice healthy hair cleanse is always called for come the end of poolside day dreaming, especially you blondies out there, no one wants the green tinge. And last, but definitely not least, the dog days always mean bathing wear sales.  So, go on, make the most...
Shortalls all grown up.

Shortalls all grown up.

A week or so ago a friend was asking me what to wear with shortalls.  They are even harder than their counter part of full pant-alls to make look grown up!  But I mean, come on, shortalls.  Shortalls.  ShortALLS.  I hate the word, it’s the worst.  It doesn’t even make sense.  Nonetheless, I love the actual article of clothing.  Here are three ways I have found to make my favorite pair of shortalls look somewhat more age appropriate. 1. Leather:  Add some leather!  I chose to pair them first with a leather vest.  What little kids have you ever seen running around with a leather vest under their overalls?  None.  None little kids. Shortalls: G-Star // Leather vest: Ralph Lauren // Tan booties: Rumble Boots by JC   2. Neon:  Add some neon in with the mix!  Even better, some lacy neon!  Maybe get a bit scandalous under such a modest piece of clothing with a neon crop top of sorts.  Then throw on a pair of flashy wedges, and you are good to go! Shortalls: G-Star // Neon top: Urban Outfitters // Red sandal wedges: Prabal Gurung for Target   3. Suit Jacket:  Nothing says grown up like anything in the form of a suit.  This one just happens to be perfect for such an occasion as shortalls.  Paired with a gray tee and little black boots, you are looking fab in seconds flat!  Maybe you are a little “business in the back, child in the front,” but you know, as I always say, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. Shortalls: G-Star // Suit jacket: Vintage, similar in the APV Shop // Boots: Vintage, also seen...
